PEER INTO THE FROZEN FOREST OF OREGON’S CLEAR LAKE
What lies below the surface of the crystal clear waters of the Clear Lake Oregon, of Sisters?
Turns out there are mysteries. After all, the lake is so clear you can see just about everything. Including its forest that is famous.
That’s correct –sitting under the lake, which is known because of its transparency that is awesome, is an ancient forest, with tree trunks drowned in a flood retained petrified from the cold temperatures of the water.
SEEING CLEARLY
Discovered in 1859 by explorers searching for a means through the Cascade Mountains, they made their way along an Indian Trail.
“Hiking the Clear Lake Trail is an unbelievable way to experience this unique Cascade lake,” writes Halvor Tweto of the Outdoor Project. “Leaving in the Clear Lake Resort trailhead, a counter-clockwise stroll around the lake provides views of Three-Fingered Jack, the McKenzie River Headwaters, the Sand Mountain Lava Flow that created the lake, the springs which feed the river, and a surreal perfect image of the Three Sisters (volcanic peaks) perfectly framed in the lake’s midsection.

“Add to this the constant presence of clear, sapphire water and the ghostly, submerged figures of a woods long submerged, and you have found one of the best walks in the Cascade foothills,” he continued.

Brian Carroll, Linn County Parks, and Recreation director told Travel + Leisure that some view it as a religious location. “You have everything, the mountains are there, the forest is there, and there is lava; there are just so many unique abnormalities about the region as you are surrounded by all this volcanic terrain.”
FROZEN IN TIME
Scientists say that the lake has an area temperature above. This retains the world in a virtual state, by researching through the branches and a few divers take benefit.
Clear Lake offers comfort and cabins, campfires, and picnic tables. “(It) is considered among the best spots for freshwater diving in the united states,” writes Jen Anderson, of TravelOregon.com.

Which begs the question: Why would not you wish to test this out?
Only a couple hours away from major cities such as Portland, Salem, and Bend, you are pretty far off the grid when you driving down Highway 126. Scuba fans can jump in the lake and explore the woods that are underground, and it is calm and peaceful for those who wish to paddle, row, or kayak since no boats are permitted on the water.
