THE HALLUCINATORY VOICES THAT SAVED A WOMAN’S LIFE

Some of the cases that are most tragic are those. How do they get? People are fortunate to have something sinister found by happenstance during evaluation or a regular check-up, but there are mysteries on the job. The curious case of a patient known only as ‘A.B.’ continues to confound the world!

According to a telling of this narrative, A.B. was born in Europe in the 1940s, moving into the U.K. around two years later. She living a lifestyle married and started a family there. This was the year she heard.

THE VOICES FROM NOWHERE
The accounts report that A.B. was reading, 1 night in the winter of 1984, when she heard a voice in her head, entirely unlike her own.

“Please don’t hesitate,” it stated. “I know that it must be shocking for you to hear me talking to you like this, but this is the simplest way I could consider. My buddy and I used to work in the Children’s Hospital, Great Ormond Street, and we would like to Assist You.”

A.B. was, as the story goes, understandably shaken by the encounter and visited her doctor, who referred her to get psychiatric treatment. Several weeks later, the voices had not returned and A.B. took a relaxing holiday. The voices were not done with her yet.

While out of the country, they were heard by her. This time, they implored as she had her to return to London. They relayed an address to go to, on arriving back in the nation!

A CORRECT DIAGNOSIS
This speech, it was, was that of a London hospital, and A.B. was advised by the voices to request a brain scan: she had a tumor, she was told, along with an inflamed brain stem. She was skeptical, as was the hospital staff because she had no symptoms whatsoever. But, the treatment that was pricey was arranged.

HALLUCINATORY VOICES THAT SAVED

Sure enough, a brain tumor was discovered by the Royal Free Hospital, and the procedure was completed without a hitch. Before physicians might have understood before A.B. herself felt that the slightest ill effects from her illness, these cryptic voices both knew of her tumor and warned her of it. Both these things, of course, should have been impossible!

With the operation to finish, the story goes that A.B. was given one final, simple message: “We’re happy to have helped you.” With this, the voices bade her farewell and A.B. never heard from them again.

It has some validity, although it is a tale that differs depending on who’s telling it. It had been relayed by Dr. Ikechukwu Azuonye from the British Medical Journal, after all, so its origins are not any folk legend or easy online creepypasta. The question is what happened here? Is there any explanation that is possible? A.B. thought she had a guardian angel, but the fact of the matter could have been easier.

GUARDIAN ANGEL OR MUNDANE EXPLANATION?
In Switzerland in 2017, a woman in her late forties reported that he had heard voices from above, which asked her to offer herself as a divine sacrifice. Under their schooling, she stabbed several times to herself. Psychiatrists have reasoned that her thinking had influenced her throughout her lifetime in reviewing the scenario that was unique and disturbing. Based on the area of the brain patients may hear voices, sometimes and in detail.

This woman reported hearing these voices that were celestial earlier 41 and 23, 32, experiencing every time to flashes of feeling. She was given an MRI scan, which revealed that a tumor which she could have had since her youth.

Was A.B.’s situation similar? Did her brain tumor induce her to listen to voices that warned her? It is certainly possible, while there has been like this in history. After all, the voices are known to have disappeared after the successful operation and A.B. had no problems since.

She attended a medical conference with Dr. Azuonye where various possibilities were put forward. It was suggested that A.B. might have created the fanciful narrative while in Europe, coming to the UK to have the costly procedure performed at no cost under the National Health Service. But, A.B. had lived in the nation for a decade and a half before hearing the voices, so that concept appears to be unlikely.

Maybe the voices were symptomatic of her tumor, or maybe she had been vaguely aware that something was wrong herself–two chances that Dr. Azuonye personally affirmed. Without a definitive answer, however, we can not dismiss the possibility that something more spectacular saved A.B.’s life.
